The Haven of Transylvania County is hosting a community Overdose Awareness Day remembrance vigil this coming Monday, August 31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the downtown Brevard Courthouse Gazebo.
This event will bring together local organizations, families, community members and individuals with lived experiences of drug overdoses for an evening of remembrance, hope, and healing.
The program will include speakers representing treatment, peer support, harm reduction, and recovery assistance agencies along with a memorial slideshow honoring individuals who have lost their lives to overdose.
Representatives of The Haven say what they want this community gathering to create space to remember our lost neighbors, reduce the stigma around substance use, and highlight the resources and support available within our community.
