Transylvania Community Arts Council invites the community to make a splash during the 20th Annual Duck Race on July 4th at Kings Creek on the Brevard College campus. The annual fundraiser supports arts programming in Transylvania County, including TCARTS programs Arts in Schools and Student Arts Academy.
Sponsorships begin at $10 for 2 Racing Ducks or guests may increase their odds of winning a prize by sponsoring one or more duck teams. Every duck that paddles Kings Creek has the chance to win cash prizes and gift certificates from local businesses. First-place finishes will win $200, second-place gets $75, and third through ninth-place winners will receive gift certificates from local businesses. Even the lucky duck that comes in last will win $20.
The 2026 Duck Race Details
The 2026 Duck Race will be held on July 4 at 6 p.m. in King’s Creek on the Brevard College campus. The public is invited to come early and enjoy the festivities.
Online duck adoptions will end at 5.15 p.m., but adoptions will be available from 4-5:45 p.m. at the event site.
The race will begin promptly at 6 p.m. and will be live-streamed on the Arts Council’s Facebook page beginning at 5.55 pm. Once the ducks are launched, they will paddle on their own to the finish line. Volunteers will be in the water to help dislodge any rubber ducks that get stuck in the creek.
A number will be attached to each duck corresponding to a duck sponsor’s assigned number. Multiple duck purchases from one duck sponsor will be assigned additional duck numbers for identification. The duck sponsors of the first nine ducks to cross the finish line, along with the sponsor of the last place duck, will be awarded prizes.
Winning Race Duck numbers will be announced at the conclusion of the race, and their sponsors will be contacted by email within 48 hours. Sponsors do not have to be present to win. All ducks will be provided by and will remain the property of the Arts Council after the event.
