Through Aug. 14, the public is invited to drop off new or gently used school supplies at the Morris Education Center, 225 Rosenwald Lane inside a Transylvania County school bus ready to be filled with community donations as part of the “Stuff the Bus” campaign.
“‘Stuff the Bus’ is a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so special,” said Transylvania County Schools Director of Student Services & Safe Schools Courtney Owen in a news release. “When neighbors, businesses, and organizations come together, we can make sure every student walks into school feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn. Every backpack, notebook, and pencil donated is an investment in a child’s future.”

These donations will directly support students across Transylvania County Schools and help remove barriers to learning and ensure classrooms are equipped for a strong start.
The most-needed items include:
- pencils
- markers
- glue sticks
- pocket folders
- composition notebooks
- binders
- corded earbuds
- backpacks
Public school students at all nine Transylvania County campuses will return to classes on Monday, Aug. 24. “Stuff the Bus” is a joint collection effort of the Transylvania County Education Foundation and Transylvania County Schools.
