The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s prime contractor in Transylvania County will continue to mill and pave lanes of Asheville Highway (Highway 280) in Pisgah Forest from the Allison Deavor House to Lobdell Road for the next 45 days.

The section of a larger resurfacing project began April 15 by milling old asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt, thermoplastic striping, rumble strips, snowplowable reflectors, and shoulders. It closes one lane of four lanes of traffic on Asheville Highway while work is done Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Once that section is complete, crews will resurface and overlay the section of Asheville Highway from Lobdell Road to the Henderson County line. That section of the project is expected to be completed by Oct. 16.
