As summer has now turned to fall, school bond projects at Transylvania County’s nine public schools are also entering a new season and groundbreakings for the start of new projects are planned at three public schools on Thursday, Oct. 29.
The first round of major repairs and upgrades funded by the $50 million sale of bonds in 2024 remains on schedule and under budget, according to Joint School Bond Project Manager Beecher Allison, Jr.
Those projects are largely for repairs to school roofs, heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, electrical and plumbing upgrades, and security improvements. A second set of bonds to be sold in 2028 will fund an additional $18 million in renovations identified by a 2023 building assessment for all schools.
