The Pisgah Conservancy and Pisgah River Rangers invite the community to celebrate the fascinating world of moths and other nighttime insects at the annual Moth Party on Thursday, June 18, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Pisgah Ranger District Visitor Center (1600 Pisgah Highway in Pisgah Forest).
This free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to experience the forest after dark and discover the incredible diversity of insects that emerge at night. Participants may observe moths and other insects attracted to specially designed light traps while learning about their remarkable adaptations and important roles in forest ecosystems.
In addition to the guided moth observation, the evening will feature hands-on activity stations, crafts face painting, s’mores, and other interactive opportunities designed for visitors of all ages. Moth Night is open to the public and no registration is required.
In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for July 2.
