Transylvania County Travel and Tourism
The Transylvania County chapter of America 250 NC has joined up with five local breweries to offer custom anniversary brews and raise a glass in honor of a specific NC patriot of the Revolutionary War. Each brewery has a display board of its patriot and his unique contribution to American independence.
The Patriot’s Pint initiative is in celebration of the impact of beer and breweries during the Revolutionary War when beer was a daily ration for soldiers served in meeting places where discussions shaped a new nation.
Patriot’s Pint stamp cards are available at the breweries and the Transylvania/Brevard Visitor Center. They are to be stamped when participants purchase a glass of each Patriot’s Pint and may be entered for a drawing to win a prize once completed.
The five Transylvania County breweries participating with their own custom Patriot’s Pint anniversary brews are:

Celebrating Patriot Ishmael Titus
Ishmael – a pale ale
Ishmael Titus was an enslaved person who served a year in the NC militia in place of his owner in exchange for his freedom. He then voluntarily enlisted for two more years.

Celebrating Patriot Penelope Barker
Penelope’s Pilsner – a pilsner
Penelope Barker organized the first known political protest by women in the American colonies, the Edenton Tea Party. She rallied more than 50 women to sign a resolution supporting the boycott of British tea and goods in protest of British policies, with the petition ultimately sent to the King of England.

Sallie Salter entered an enemy camp under the guise of selling eggs. She was a spy for the Patriot forces who gathered enough information to allow a force of only 70 men to devise a surprise attack that led to a complete Patriot victory.

Overmountain – a citrus wheat beer
Benjamin Davidson was a North Carolina militiaman who fought at the crucial battle of King’s Mountain. He and his brother were the first 2 settlers to cross the Blue Ridge and request land in what is now Transylvania County along the river that is now his namesake.

Celebrating Patriot Cornelius Harnett
Great Proclaimer – a California common lager
Cornelius Harnett was a leading patriot in colonial North Carolina who helped organize resistance to British rule during the American Revolution. Known as the “Samuel Adams of North Carolina,” he served in the Continental Congress and played a key role in pushing the colony toward independence.
The promotion will run through at least July 4, 2026.
