The Brevard Philharmonic has announced the schedule for its “Golden Anniversary Season,” which will celebrate 50 years of local orchestral music.

The 2026-27 season, which starts in September, will demonstrate how the philharmonic has grown into a regional symphonic orchestra of nearly 100 members.

“I’m really pleased and proud of how we’ve developed our relationship and how we’ve grown to do bigger and better things,” said Maestro James Fellenbaum, the musical organization’s conductor and music director for the past eight years, in a news release.

“I’m looking forward to it all,” he continued in reference to the upcoming golden anniversary season of six special concerts which will include:

September 27 – Casablanca

In a first for the Philharmonic, the 1942 classic film “Casablanca” starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman will be shown on a large screen above the orchestra as musicians play selections from Max Steiner’s Oscar-nominated score.

November 8 – A Russian Spectacular

Acclaimed American violist Claire Wells plays Tchaikovsky’s famous “Violin Concerto.”

December 20 – Christmastime in Brevard

A favorite of every season, Maestro Fellenbaum will again put together a seasonal spectacular of the

traditional carols with ballerinas from the Carolina Dance Collective performing selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”

March 14 – Celebrating Chamber

The Philharmonic will present a program of chamber orchestra music in the sanctuary of the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church on East Main Street in Brevard.

April 3 – Broadway Legends

Three Broadway veterans of “Phantom of the Opera” will appear in a pops concert featuring tunes from the past 50 years.
