Blue Ridge Community College’s Adult Education department partnered with ALULA, the organization formerly known as Transylvania Vocational Services, this spring semester to offer a valuable adult education class to 12 special students.
A dozen ALULA employees recently completed a program consisting of a ServSafe food handler course with a certification exam and a presentation project in which students shared personal stories about their lives.
ServSafe is a food safety training and certification program from the National Restaurant Association for food handlers, managers, allergen awareness and responsible alcohol service. It covers safe purchasing, receiving, storage, and food safety management, food safety basics, contamination prevention, cleaning and sanitation practices.
ALULA is social enterprise and manufacturing employer based in Brevard since 1967 that focuses on contract manufacturing and packaging of dry food products and dietary supplements, while also supporting inclusive employment for people with disabilities
During a ceremony on May 19, 2026, Blue Ridge Community College recognized the students for their achievement and presented them with Blue Ridge gifts commemorating their successful completion of the course.
