The Brevard chapter of the American Association of University Women will hold its 56th annual book sale again on the Brevard College campus this year, just not in the same location patrons had previously shopped.
The community event to raise funds for AAUW scholarships will take place this year June 6-10 in McClarty-Goodson Hall, rather than in Bosshamer gym as in previous years, due to ongoing construction on the Brevard College campus.
“The sale will still be on the Brevard College campus but in another building for at least one if not two years, as Brevard College is renovating their cafeteria and has to feed everyone somewhere,” explained AUAW’s Nancy Clark. “The good thing is that when we get back to the gym, it will be a whole lot nicer! There will be signs at all the entrances to the college directing you to the new building.”
Hours for the 2026 booksale are Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, June 7 from noon until 7 p.m., Monday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (half price day), and Wednesday, June 11, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($5 a box day).
Shoppers are encouraged to browse thousands of previously-owned books, puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs, and LPs on multiple days and pay for purchases with cash, checks with ID or credit cards.
In 2024 the AAUW book sale grossed a record $35,100 to fund scholarships for local women and girls in Transylvania County. Previous scholarship recipients include middle-school girls selected by their teachers to attend nearby science and math camps with fifth graders participating at the Green River Preserve and the rising seventh graders going to Campus Adventures at Brevard College.
