The Transylvania County Library and the Department of Social Services will host a cornhole tournament with live ukulele music from Heather Reedy and Laura Sperry on Monday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m, in the Community Services Building at 106 E. Morgan Street.

This opportunity for social connection and a little bit of healthy competition is part of the ongoing Memory Café series of gatherings aimed at connecting community members managing a memory loss diagnosis and their care partners with others in similar situations.

Supplies for the tournament will be provided by Transylvania County Parks & Recreation. Therapy dogs from 5 Paws Therapy Group will greet attendees. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

The monthly Memory Café meeting will run for an hour with time for socializing during the cornhole tournament. Information about memory loss and other resources from the Alzheimer’s Association and Transylvania County DSS will be available.

Registration in pairs (the guest and their caretaker) is suggested, but not required.

Please contact the Transylvania County Library at (828) 884-3151 or check the Library’s events calendar for more information.
