Hundreds of art aficionados poured into Brevard College’s Porter Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Aug. 8, during an afternoon of free family-friendly artistic fun at the White Squirrel Artisan Market’s Summer Festival.
Live music greeted guests at the college’s outdoor amphitheater from noon to 5 p.m. while the rain held out long enough to allow blue skies to complement a line of food trucks parked around the perimeter of Brevard’s premier concert hall and theater west of downtown.
There were plenty of unique arts and crafts for attendees to see up close. More than 65 local vendors displayed their wares inside and outside the Porter Center and offer the option to take home something special from the quarterly benefit, from which proceeds are designated to be donated to the local nonprofit food pantry Bread of Life and The White Squirrel Institute.
Some guests brought chairs and picnic blankets to relax outdoors and listen to performances from local musicans and dancers, while others preferred the comfort of the spacious Porter Center foyer which was lined with arts, crafts and local businesses hoping to attract both attention and new patrons to their products.
