The American Red Cross and local Transylvania County first responders will host a competitive blood drive on Wednesday, July 22 to see which organization can collect the most units of blood from noon to 6 p.m. in the Heritage Hall of Brevard Wesleyan Church.
Members of the Brevard Police Department, Transylvania County Sheriff’s Department, Transylvania EMS and the Brevard Fire Department will participate by giving blood donations and all donors may voting for their favorite group.
The winning group in this “Battle of the Badges” will receive a trophy and certificate from the Red Cross along with bragging rights for a year.
There will be free food for donors at the church and everyone who successfully donates will receive a free Battle of the Badges shirt (while supplies last) and a free Fandango movie ticket.
The American Red Cross provides approximately 40% of the nation’s blood supply with more than 2,500 hospital partners nationwide.
Interested donors can view appointments and sign up by going to redcrossblood.org and entering code “BrevardWesleyan” or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Brevard Wesleyan Church is located at 583 North Broad Street in Brevard.
