FIND Outdoors and Food For Adventures invite the public to explore the edible and medicinal plants that thrive throughout the Southern Appalachian Mountains on July 23rd at 6 p.m. when renowned chef Lee “Natty” Trebotich will introduce participants to the fascinating world of wild foraging at the organization’s NEST in Pisgah Forest.
Expect an in-depth discussion about the various uses of native plants, both edible and medicinal, while enjoying a showcase of backcountry recipes and foraging techniques and learning how to forage responsibly and protect our environment.
Trebotich, the owner, lead forager, and head chef at Food For Adventures, will present the lecture based on his 20+ years of experience in the outdoors with additional insights from his cooking background as a park ranger balancing the worlds of outdoor education and adventure cuisine.
Whether you’re an experienced hiker, an aspiring forager, or simply curious about the natural world, this lecture will offer an excellent opportunity to connect with local experts and discover the incredible resources growing around us all.
“Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Smoky Mountains” is part of the ongoing Stewards & Storytellers Learning Series that brings together community members, outdoor professionals, educators, and conservationists to share knowledge and inspire stewardship of our public lands.
The event is open to the public and includes two complimentary alcoholic beverages and light snacks. FIND Outdoors’ NEST is located at 49 Pisgah Highway, Suite 3, in Pisgah Forest, NC.
