Transylvania County EMS
Transylvania County EMS recently accepted the delivery of two new ambulances to their fleet of vehicles used to serve local residents.
Ambulances can take years from order to delivery and the lengthy build time requires careful planning by EMS leadership and preventative maintenance to keep current ambulances safely on the road.
Ambulances are also costly, with prices for the vehicle alone rising almost 20% in the past 6 years in addition to the cost of onboard lifesaving equipment.

In NC, emergency vehicles and public service vehicles can include ambulances, firetrucks, law enforcement vehicles, NCDOT, tow trucks, and utility trucks.
If you encounter an approaching emergency vehicle with lights and sirens, pull to the right-hand edge of the roadway or curb, stop, and remain stopped until the emergency vehicle has safely passed by.
If you see a stopped emergency vehicle with flashing lights, slow down and move over, if possible. Slow down and be prepared to stop if you cannot safely change lanes.
Pay attention and eliminate any distractions as you maneuver around a stopped emergency vehicle. Be alert for crews who may be outside.
