Corporal Jacksie Galloway and Captain James Dodson of the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office recently graduated from Class #9 of the Southern Coastal Jail Leadership Initiative.
The mission of the Southern Coastal Jail Leadership Initiative is to help shape jail leaders by equipping jail professionals with the knowledge, skills, and leadership tools needed to serve their agencies and communities with excellence. This prestigious program is a collaborative effort between the American Jail Association (AJA) and the South Carolina Jail Administrators’ Association (SCJAA), with curriculum based on the Core Competencies for Jail Leaders.
Throughout the program, participants received advanced leadership training in areas including:
• Leadership overview and leadership toolkit
• Building and managing successful teams
• Staff conflict resolution
• Managing and leading change
• Risk management for jail supervisors
• Agency culture and leadership impact
• Mentoring and coaching
• Combating workplace stress
• Action planning for success
• Providing constructive criticism effectively
This achievement is just one part of these officers’ commitment to professional development to strengthen the local detention facility and Sheriff’s Office through the service it provides to the citizens of Transylvania County.
